A bit of my opinion : No being in favour of (which is not any of my business, though) Scotlands desire for independence, I also do not support the separation of the Crimea from Ukraine. But the situation underway proves the fact that the Crimea does not recognize the legitimacy of the new government in Kiev and, according to the international law, they have the right to self-determination . With the implementation of this law, chances are we might witness military intervention from Kiev ( more likely - by the pro-nazi Right Sector, the less likely - by the army ) . It is the option which, I reckon, all sensible people should oppose to. What has the Russian Federation to do with all this: first, once the gunfire starts, Russia will have every right to protect their interests ( = military bases in the Crimea ), and secondly, still recognizing the legitimacy of President of Ukraine Yanukovych ( quite reasonably, in compliance with both the Ukrainian and international law), it has the full right to grant his request to intervene militarily. I will always vote against such further developments, but the policies pursued by Kiev leave little choice. Furthermore, I believe annexation the Crimea and eastern regions by the Russian Federation is the worst possible option for Russia (taking into account at least nearly a million Donetsk miners and almost completely developed deposits of Donbass) .Processes of self-determination must be conducted in a civilized manner and without hysteria . At least as much as it is being done in the case of Europe with the referendum in Scotland.
