A burpee is not just a lethal conditioning tool, but also a great - TopicsExpress

A burpee is not just a lethal conditioning tool, but also a great way to teach movement patterns. There are a couple of common movement faults found when performing a burpee: excessive lumbar flexion, landing on the toes. Over time these errors can lead to poor quality of movement and worse, some nasty injuries in the low back and knees. The solution? Slow the movement down and dissect its component parts. While Lindsey continues to work on improving strength and mobility in her hips, weve taken a couple of steps back in intensity and began to dial in some more efficient movement. For Lindsey, the transition back to standing starts with a step back up, keeping the lumbar spine neutral and leading up with the chest. The step up ensures that the hips are loaded instead of the knee, which usually results from landing on the toes as the legs transition back to a standing position. Remember, never be afraid to perform a movement with a bit of scaling if that means that you are engraining good movement patterns and habits. January 7, 2015 Training: bit.ly/1Kq2OO8
