A busy day on the campaign trail today. It started with a hoardings maintenance run at 6am and then moved on to the fantastic Spring into Tawa Market Day. A wonderful morning with the people of Tawa and the surrounding communities. It was great to be able to support some very worthy causes, particularly the local schools and clubs. I also ran into an old neighbour from Porirua who I hadnt seen in many years - An impromptu catch-up in the midst of the crowd. I also recorded a short interview with TVNZ which is expected to get some coverage during their Election coverage next Saturday night. Then it was time for some more door knocking in Wadestown. The reception was very positive, with many people wanting to know the best way they could ensure that we retain a National-led Government with John Key as Prime Minister. We followed on with a procession of National Party signage through the streets of the Wellington CBD to reinforce to the hordes of All Blacks supporters who is Working for New Zealand. This evening I joined fellow National Party candidates Chris Bishop and Paul Foster-Bell MP at the 31st Annual Cultural Show & Dinner Dance hosted by the United Sri Lanka Association at the Indian Cultural Centre in Kilbirnie. A wonderful evening of entertainment and warm company. I even managed to get a photo alongside the Cricket World Cup - as close as Ill ever get to it and a pleasant surprise.
