A busy week in The IDL with more titles decided and relegations - TopicsExpress

A busy week in The IDL with more titles decided and relegations confirmed, unfortunately we have a number of games outstanding, they need to be played by Wednesday in the case of league matches - and I will be contacting people individually to check whats going on. Well start with the knockout competitions as ever, as David Cook and Jamie Loader booked Challenge Cup semi final berths, Dave beating Bradley Turrell 6-3, hitting a 180, and Jamie being awarded a bye by the conceding Blaine Karst. Another Trophy quarter final played in good time saw Jamie Butler edge out Steve Chambers 5-3, leaving just one semi final spot undecided as Eddie Karst and Will Driscoll need to sort out their 2nd round game, with the winner due to play Chris Cooley. A lot of action in the Challenge Bowl, with the remaining three second round games all played, with comfortable wins for Charlie Osborn and George Elvy, and a 4-3 win for Anthony Hoyle over Sophie Stutley. In the quarters it was another comfortable win for Charlie Osborn and a first ever IDL defeat for George Elvy at the hands of Sarah Stutley, with two other quarter finals still to be played. BOWL SECOND ROUND Anthony Hoyle 4-3 Sophie Stutley Charlie Osborn 4-1 Jaymes Sinfield Matthew Jarvis 2-4 George Elvy CHALLENGE CUP QUARTER FINALS Bradley Turrell (93) 3-6 David Cook (180, 86) Jamie Loader w-o Blaine Karst TROPHY QUARTER FINALS Steve Chambers 3-5 Jamie Butler BOWL QUARTER FINALS Charlie Osborn 4-1 Scott Searle George Elvy 2-4 Sarah Stutley The one remaining game in the Premier Division is still yet to be played, Blaine Karst needs to beat Champion Jamie Freeman to secure a playoff spot and relegate Liam Curran. Rob beat Matt 8-3 to keep his promotion hopes alive, both players hitting 130 checkouts in that one. Also just falling short was Craig Searle, who hit a 180 and checkouts of 120 and 116 in his 8-2 win over Terry Barned, who will return from his couple of seasons break as a Division two player as he is relegated despite beating Kevin 8-5. Also relegated is Guy de Maudave, who hit a 180 and a 106 checkout but lost 8-2 to Kevin, who now needs to beat Jason Hogg to avoid the relegation playoff in the only remaining league game. Gary Cowlam lifts the trophy, his second successive league win, despite losing 8-6 to Donald Adamson in a match where both players hit a 180, Donald slipped up in his final match, losing 8-2 to Connor Scutt, which gave Connor the playoff place and a meeting with Mike Boddy for a place in the Championship, Connor also hit a 180 in that win. Donald misses out by one leg after that defeat, he hit a 180 in an 8-3 win over Billy Maddison where he had a chance to win 8-0. Also missing out is Chris Hogg, he beat Billy 8-4, hitting a 180 and a 112 checkout, the defeats condemning Billy to relegation, while Dylan Osborn gets another opportunity to earn a reprieve in the playoffs. Jamie Butler has amazingly not yet mathematically secured the title, despite two more wins this week, beaing Frank Daly 8-1 and Rob Wardle 8-6, Rob hitting a 180 but falling just short. It was a bad week for both Frank and Rob as they dropped into the relegation picture with multiple defeats, Rob also losing to Babak Sohzabi, who has left it a bit late to save himself, and Craig Kingstree, who could still nick the title if he beats Jacob 8-0 and Jacob beats Jamie. Frank hit a 180 in a defeat to Joe Hill, and also lost to Steve Hill, who secured his playoff spot. Daniel requires a win from one of his remaining games to avoid the Wooden Spoon playoff and condemn last seasons Wooden Spoon Alice MacKenzie to another Finals Night opener. There are only a handful of players left unpaid, please check the spreadsheet to make sure youre marked as PAID if you have indeed paid. The league deadline is closing time on WEDNESDAY 4TH JUNE. Please do not email me asking to play on Thursday, as I need the time to prepare Playoffs and Semi Finals Night as well as the trophy order for the season. Knockout competitions may be played at any point up until 6pm on Monday 9th June - all semi finals are scheduled for Monday 9th June as part of Playoffs and Semi Finals Night, however they can be rearranged for any day before Finals Night should a player be unavailable for Monday night. This also applies to Playoffs. All Playoff and Semi Final draws will take place on Wednesday 4th June. An update will be sent to you on Wednesday night/Thursday morning with final tables and details for Playoffs and Semi Finals Night. If you do NOT wish to participate in Season XI of the London Victoria IDL (June 16th to early September) please contact me. If you have any friends or family who would like to join in the fun, please invite them to contact me, or invite them to attend Finals Night on Friday 13th June, where I will have a person in place to accept completed forms, registration money, and do signup games, giving the new player the opportunity to meet lots of IDL players and experience the Finals Night atmosphere. If you would like to take part in the Rileys Twickenham IDL which begins on Monday June 9th please contact me before the weekend. This Friday sees the regular first Friday of the month Victoria Cup Open - with a guaranteed first prize of at least £100 - its just a fiver for Victoria IDL players to take part, so come and join in - register by 7pm. The World Cup of Darts will also be showing, and we will be cheering on regular Open attendee Scott MacKenzie, who represents Hong Kong at the event in Hamburg. Still time to enter the football World Cup prediction game - the spreadsheet you need is attached - its only a fiver to enter and the more people enter the more we will be paying out to the top three predictors, so forward on to friends and family and anyone who may be interested - full payment info is included in the instructions. Charity corner now and though I havent got any web links to share with you just yet - Ash Rees of Division Three B is doing a charity bike ride this summer, and the Stutley sisters along with Sue Hoyle are doing the Race for Life in Crystal Palace park on June 22nd and they are looking for sponsors. I will endeavour to get the web links for you in the next update - in the meantime if you can spare a few quid to sponsor your fellow IDLers and raise money for good causes then contact them directly for more info. I will be doing the website update at theidl.co.uk after Wednesday nights update, this will then carry full details of the upcoming Finals Week. Thats it for this week - Ill be contacting those players with games outstanding individually so that we can hopefully find a solution to any problems. Cheers Paul
