THEY HAVE COME AGAIN! NIGERIANS HAVE GONE MAD BECAUSE OF EBOLA VIRUS The false information spreading like fire now is that people should be drinking hot water with high concentration of salt and bathing with same. They say, it cures Ebola and also prevents Ebola. They started with Bitter Kola and today it is Concentrated salts. As i write, over 30% of Nigerians in the rural area and even the urban areas are taking tones of salt with water. Soon, we may not see salt to buy. Ebola have been in Sierra Leone and Liberia for many months, yet Liberians have maintained sanity, but just under few days with less than 8 confirmed infected persons in Nigeria. Nigerians have gone mad spreading useless and suicidal information. The Worse is that they feel you that there is no harm in taking precaution, even though it is not true. Many people will think i read politics of even APC in school, so i should only talk politics. I am a trained Chemical Scientist and a specialist in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with lots of independent health researches and health books. Beware! you may kill yourself before Ebola kills 1. Taking high concentration of salt can kill one with high blood pressure considering the facts that over 60% of Nigerians above the ages of 60 years are hypertensive. 2. Bitter Kola is a natural biomedical substance with pharmaceutical properties. taking a high dose of it can have adverse effects and can be dangerous. Bitter Kola has compounds with anti bacterial properties but Ebola is a virus and bitter Kola has no confirmed compound with anti viral properties. 3. Washing of hands with salt can be a good health practice since the high concentration of salt can kill exposed bacteria of virus by dehydrating the bacteria or virus, but drinking of salt and bathing with salt cannot cure Ebola or give immunity to Ebola. 4. Taking of concentrated salt solution can be very dangerous to one with high blood pressure.. The Nigerian ministry of information has been up and doing in this case of Ebola and have been disseminating information. The lagos state government and other states have also been disseminating information, but Nigerians prefer rumor and unverified reports. This is why we are in a mess both politically and other wise because we swallow lies and unverified information. This morning i started receiving calls from relations, friends and family members from urban and rural areas to wake up and take talk and bath with same, Many where even told that Ebola is in airborne and can pass through the air. Dont kill yourself before the ebola virus kills you. The USA is making progress in the discovery of a vaccine or drug that can cure ebola. This is not the first outbreak of disease that the world have seen, It will be controlled in no long time insha Allah. Let us maintain sanity and listen to only verified information from the government and health agencies home and abroad.
