A characteristically blinkered perspective from Curran. The reality is that business people in Scotland are speaking out. Given the general ignorance of and detachment from the referendum campaign displayed by British politicians - particularly those based in London - it comes as no surprise to fined that Maggie Curran is totally unaware of organisations such as Business for Scotland. Literally hundreds of business people in Scotland have openly declared their support for a Yes vote in next years referendum. Curran and her ilk turn a deaf ear to them because this is not what they want to hear. It doesnt fit the unionist narrative. So, while hypocritically claiming that she wants businesses to engage with the referendum debate, Curran chooses to contemptuously disregard the hundreds that do. And how does she explain the lack of support from business for Project Fear? Does she recognise that it just might be because nobody wants to be associated with the dire, grinding negativity of it all? Does she realise that business people, sensitive to the importance of image and reputation, would not wish to be seen to be linked to the distortions, deceit and downright dishonesty of Better Together? Does it occur to her that organisations such as the Federation of Small Businesses dont take a position on the constitutional question because they are very well aware that their membership are split on the issue? No! The best explanation that Curran can come up with for the lack of support among Scotlands business community for the British nationalist cause is that they are being intimidated by the SNP. Its a conspiracy! A dastardly plot hatched by her favourite comic-book super-villain, Salmond the Silencer! Another way that Curran is typical of the Tory/Labour/LibDem alliance against independence is her willingness to make a bloody spectacle of herself in the name of preserving the British state at whatever cost to the people of Scotland.
