A child is easily distracted. The older they get the more focused they are able to be. It is the same with our spiritual lives. In our immaturity we can be pulled in every direction until our eyes can be taken off The Lord and on every other thing happening around us. Isaiah 50:7 says ...I have set my face like flint... Flint was a hard rock in the Middle East, but it was also known as a way to describe stubborn endurance. No matter what is happening around us, lets set our faces upon Jesus like flint, not being blown by the winds of distraction or set backs, but keeping our eyes on Him and living a focused life. I remember going through a hard time and Mike Frederick, my pastor at the time, told me to not get distracted by the winds of trouble around me. It too shall pass. Ive never forgotten that. When our hearts are rooted in Christ, winds of distraction and despair wont move us. We arent numb to them, and it still may be difficult, but we know this too shall pass and God is faithful to carry us through anything. Choose to set your face like flint because you are already an overcomer!
