A commentator once stopped a quarterback while he was running across the field to ask him a question right after he had won the Superbowl. While a wall of confetti rained down on both of them she asked, What was going through your mind on that last snap of the ball? The commentator waited for an answer such as, Disney World or the after game party! but he said, I was thinking...just dont fumble the ball! I have no idea if that ever happened. It was just a thought in my head, so lets just call it a parable. Lol!!!! I think the main point of this parable would be: We must finish well this fight of faith (2 Tim. 4:7) and in order to do that we must stay focused to the end. To me the football represents faith. The quarterback has already been victorious or else he wouldnt have made it to the Superbowl in the first place! In order to finish well we have to keep the faith while fixing our eyes on Jesus. If we are already victorious in Christ, then whats at stake if we fumble the ball and never pick it up again? Two things: -Our Testimony (2 Sam. 12:14) -And Lost Souls (Rom. 2:24) (Look up these scriptures and you will see that while our sin is grievous to God what is even worse is what happens in the wake of our sin) I would love to take a trip to Disney World with my children one day, but I think Disney World in my parable represents the pleasures of life that can easily take our focus off the ball. Maybe youre reading this as a believer and you have fumbled. I myself have fumbled many times, but Jesus is still blocking for you my friend to pick up the ball. Theres plenty of pass protection with Jesus! Dont just stand there and look at it! Pick it up and walk (1Jn.2:6) with it! There are two scenarios of how our lives can end: You could be be asked like the quarterback at the end of your life: What was going through your mind? How could you fumble a simple snap to win the game? How could you just stare at the ball? All you had to do was pick up the ball? It was just laying there right in front of you. And of course a ridiculous answer from you would be I was thinking too much about Disney World Or you could simply answer the question, What were you thinking in the last moments of your life? How did you get the Victory? and you can say, All I was thinking about was Jesus and keeping the Faith! Now if youll excuse me Im leaving this Mickey Mouse world and going to see my Father in Heaven! :)
