A committed lesbian couple who were just basic members of society like most other people. They worked, paid taxes, minded their own business, and had been in a relationship for two years. They were brutally murdered and their bodies were dumped in a dumpster next to a convenience store. THEY are why hate speech needs to be curbed. THEY are why people who hate and then claim that they are doing Gods work need to be exposed for their bigotry. THEY are why this nation must step up and do the right thing and legislate that LGBT peoples rights are equal with every other person in this country, just like we did with African American people. Our government must not continue to ignore, abide and even legislate LGBT discrimination that relegates us to a position of being lesser, unworthy citizens. Their actions put us all at risk. Hate, bigotry, discrimination, in-equality - all of this conduct sends the message that it is societally, religiously, and legally acceptable to do whatever you want to harm and disenfranchise LGBT people, and that we are deserving of that maltreatment. Words can kill. Hate does kill. Bigotry kills.
