Campaign.ng is the fastest growing youth political organization in Nigeria and a major umbrella body for young aspirants across political parties campaign.ng . We have worked tirelessly in the last couple of months building the capacity of young aspirants across the country and exchanging profitable ideas. Our recent activity was a ‘Campaign Training for Youth Aspirants” in Abuja, facilitated by the International Republican Institute (IRI), and co-sponsored by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Our major goal is to ensure that youths with quality leadership skills and high moral standing occupy leadership positions at all levels of government and across Nigeria. As a matter of national commitment, we are building a successor generation of selfless young leaders who possess the might and will to lead Nigeria into global reckoning. We wish to commend your party for the opportunity it has given to Nigerian youth to aspire to serve our nation. It is our candid belief that this prospect will continue to get better. As the constituency with the largest voting strength, it needs no further emphasis that the youth constitute over 60 percent of the electorate in the country. It may interest you to also know that the political consciousness among the youths and willingness to serve is on the rise. More than any previous election, a significant number young Nigerians are eager to aspire under your political party. The high number of youth seeking the platform of your party is very strategic to its overall political exploit if well utilized. However, sequel to the guidelines for the 2015 general elections released by your party, most importantly the cost of nomination forms; we are worried that a substantial number of the youths in your party will not be able to afford the cost to vie for office. Our post training session and nationwide consultations have revealed that majority of young aspirants have become handicapped and in serious dilemma over the cost of nomination forms. While the interest to contest is strong and qualifications merited, however the financial commitment to meet up political obligations is being threatened by the cost of a form. As a concerned organization with a high regard and respect for your party and its ideals, we sincerely appeal to you to come to the aid of Nigerian youth and grant us a reasonable concession. Specifically in our appeal, we are requesting that: •You grant the youth such important concession that will require us to pay for only Expression of Interest Fees. We make this patriotic demand with a high sense of responsibility to allow a new generation of selfless leaders to emerge; such that there will be no pressure on the leadership to recoup money. •We also demand for your thorough supervision of the Primaries across the country to reflect the wishes and aspiration of the people. This will enable credible, popular candidates to emerge. •We align ourselves with the 30 per cent youth inclusion in governance for elective and appointive positions. Nigerian youth deserve a special place of reckoning to strengthen our democratic process. As fellow compatriots, we are advocating that it is high time we truly live for the ideal of cutting the cost of governance beginning with primary elections; especially the cost of forms, and the process of getting the party ticket. We urge your party to put in a place a special plan for leadership succession such that will give room for quality participation by patriotic Nigerian youths. Campaign.ng is optimistic that Nigeria will get it right if we apply the wisdom of the old and the strength of the youth to governance. The business of governance is a collective enterprise and we must work together to realize our full potentials. We are optimistic that you will give our humble request an urgent and a most deserved attention. You can always count on our support as partners in progress.
