MALLADIS’ MELODY NOT MALADY ------------------------------------------------------ Imagine Malladi Brothers at the Music Academy in 22nd Dec,2014, between 18.45 hrs to 21.15 hrs, singing not in tandem but at cross purposes. The assembled audience, huge in number, by Academy’s standards these days, may have been deported to the land of Abaswaram. What a tragedy it would have been. They did not take it out on the audience because they were frustrated for some reason of their own making. They simply blew the audience away by their ‘synchronised’ swimming of the ragas and the Sriram and Ravikumar dazzled, in the company Embar S Kannan (violin), Tiruchy Sankaran (mirudangam) and Purushothaman ( Kanjira). What melody they generated with Krithis of the very old. Yes, they were Telegu centric not Tamil directed. There was nothing chauvinistic about their choices for their mother tongue was Telegu and they exploited to a tee. The audience lapped it up with love. Now, Modi’s Melody after the elections is being ‘Malady’fied with a vengeance by the Terribly Malignant Congress (TMC). The entire opposition has its scores to settle with Modi’s Jugalbandhi during the elections. They tried and tried and failed to stop his Juggernaut from assuming the mantle. Now, they have the BJP’s own example of disrupting Parliament and torpedoing the Insurance Bill et al. It is now pay back time, according to the TMC led bandwagon. Parliament has fallen into abysmal standards. If Sriram was regaling us in Mukhari, were Ravikumar to break into Thodi, it would be melancholic. It would insult the audience. They may have their ‘scores’ to settle. But what about US. The paying audience or the little Indian voter who braves rain, shine, Maoist threat, terrorist bullet and highhandedness of the security personnel as well? Care two hoots for them? India is desperate for reform. The neighbourhood is burning and Lakhvi is out on Bail and there are symptoms of ISIS swaying young minds. Untold number of legislations are pending and Lok Sabha has the ‘arrogance of numbers’ to take them through. But the ‘protective umbrella’ TMC carried with posters in tow, was simply not funny. It would be pay back time from us the voter. Congress has lost so many States but still is not learning its lessons. BJP is a brilliant opposition. No doubt. But they had Modi to take them through in the hustings. Congress has Rahul to drag them down. Now, what little space they have they are yielding to the rest of the opposition. Communists and the Secular Janatha has nothing to lose. They would love to occupy Prime Time and mindspace with a hollering Arnab. They are happy with it. A born ruling party Congress cannot afford to be in this company. They had a brilliant opportunity to turn around their sagging and sagged fortunes by being the ‘party with a difference’ that BJP set out to be. Congress could have simply stood up and said no matter what, on important legislations, we had conceived, and BJP was swearing by, we would singing in tandem and show BJP up. The ordinary Indian would have loved it. WE are a decent lot. The aspirational India is so different. We care not the affiliations. We have a solitary affiliation. That is National. That is what Modi tapped into and Congress which is set to lose Jharkhand and J&K too today, is not learning. It is a Malady they can do without, for two national parties vying for honours, is India’s Melody. Yes, BJP may be embarrassed. The opposition can go to town that BJP has been taught a lesson. But what about the lesson YOU are teaching us to remember next time come elections. Modi and BJP have simply ‘sewn up’ Delhi thanks to the opposition shenanigans in the Rajya Sabha. Conversions, Modi’s refusal to ‘come clean’ nothing would sell at the hustings. What would sell is the ‘chaotic malady’ displayed by TMC led ruffians ( no other word) in the name of Dance of Democracy. Malladi Brothers were soothing to the nerves in these Terrible Times. They sang in unison and generated soulful music. What co operation and tandem singing can do. Not a swaram misplaced, even per chance. It was all in Telegu, which may have gone over our heads. But it did not matter. It grabbed us for it was divine. A malodorous opposition in the name of spiking Modi’s Melody has ‘Malady’fied itself beyond redemption. WE the audience/rasika/voter are not amused even by the antics of Arnab. It stinks and BJP/Modi are gainers while India is the loser to be.
