Everyone knows him..Mostly on pure academic interest..He was not one of us..He was not a DemiGod..He was just a status symbol..A machine that won tournaments to help us boast about sports in our country. While we followed all our superstitions - not moving from our place or wearing the same clothes when Sachin neared a century, we got to know Vishys wins from the newspapers next day I dont know whether we deserved a Vishwanathan Anand..We never wanted him either..But we needed a Vishi..for bragging rights..For being proud about. For Indian sports, he was just a silent guardian, the watchful protector - The true dark knight. We have prayed..prayed to the almighty - When Misbah skied the ball to fine leg. When India took field on April 2nd....When Sachin was nearing his 100th 100.. This time..let us do it for this man..He needs it the most now..We simply owe it to him!!
