A couple of lovely items originally from Teampull na Trionaid, - TopicsExpress

A couple of lovely items originally from Teampull na Trionaid, North Uist have found their way back to the islands. We were recently allocated a small archaeological assemblage from Teampull na Trionaid through Treasure Trove in Scotland and we received the box last week from CFA Archaeology Ltd, who undertook the archaeological works on behalf of the Teampull na Trionaid Conservation Trust. Several pieces of pottery were found, including this piece with an applied cordon decoration, dating from the Iron age. An item from more recent times is this stem fragment from a clay pipe which is stamped with ‘Alex Coghill/Glasgow’. This pipe manufacturer and exporter was in business between 1826-1904. You can visit Teampull na Trionaid by following signs in Cairinis, where there is also parking available. The cemetery there also has Commonwealth War Graves of some of those who fell during the war.
