A couple of months ago I drove away from serving under the bridge - TopicsExpress

A couple of months ago I drove away from serving under the bridge and decided to stop at the state park nearby for a brisk walk. Sandy? I herd two small voices squeak. When I turned around I spotted two sweet women sitting on a nearby park bench. We havent been under the bridge to eat for quite a while. At that point I figured they were homeless women who stand in the lines for substance. I walked over to them and they told me they were close to getting a place to live. I did the Happy Dance, which is usually reserved for people who have already secured places. We said our good-byes and I wished them luck. Yesterday I saw one of the women, Shirley, standing in line under the bridge. She came to tell me they had a safe place to lay their heads, a door to lock, a place to feel safe. I did the Happy Dance and announced to all of the hungry lined up that Shirley got a home. Everyone started cheering and clapping. I glanced round at the tired and dirty faces and I noticed something. These people were genuinely happy for Shirley. She represented HOPE for so many. How many of us do the Happy Dance when someone reaches a goal? Or do we allow jealousy to creep in? How many, when told of someones good news, announces to the world, so everyone can celebrate? How many look the person in the eye and ask what they can do to help out? Shirley handed me a list of needs. They may have gotten a place to live but the contents are yet to be seen. Earlier in the day a dear couple wrote me on facebook, Did I want/need a kitchen table and chairs?, including a picture of the beautiful set. I showed Shirley the picture of the furniture that was being delivered to my house that same day, and she hung her head and cried. And I cried with her. One by one God is moving the homeless into places to live, people are stepping up with furniture, dishes, linens, and even pictures to decorate the walls. One by one the formerly homeless are seeing Jesus. I can almost swear I can feel Him smile.
