A couple of months ago I purchased Donald Tysons NECRONOMICON TAROT. Its a gorgeous pack, and it does have the tradtional infrastructure of four suits of Lower Arcana including cards numbered Ace through 10 and four court cards in each suit, plus 22 Major Arcana with assignments (planets, Sun, Moon, correspondences) as per the Golden Dawn system. The illustrations are fantastic and beautiful. But I have some quibbles -- the creator of the pack is, of course, entitled to whatever assignments of creatures from the Canons to given cards he wants, but there were a couple of those assignments that Id have made differently. For Trump II, The High Priestess, associated with the Moon, the Goddess Bast is featured in the illustration. Bast is a cat Goddess, and would have been more appropriate for Trump VIII, Strength, which is associated with Leo (which is, just incidentally, H. P. Lovecrafts birth sign). On the other hand, the illustration for Trump III, The Empress, is Shub-Niggurath. The planet that is associated with this Trump is Venus; Venus and Aphrodite, Goddesses associated with the planet Venus, are Goddesses of love, beauty, and the functioning of society, but not of fertility. Instead, fertility of all kinds and the abundance of life on Earth is associated with Earths Moon, which is associated with Trump II, The High Priestess. Therefore Shub-Niggurath should have been used in the illustration for Trump II. Other than that, I cant think of any problems with this pack (if I do, Ill post them here). As I said, its a *gorgeous* pack and very much worth having just as it is, whether it is to be used for Tarot readings or as a collectible. Anybody else find anything in this pack that is problematical?
