A critical assessment of women in Liberia development and my close - TopicsExpress

A critical assessment of women in Liberia development and my close look at the celebration of International Women Day in Liberia. What we as people need to do our mothers, sisters and daughters in post war Liberia. The patriarchal cultures, institutions, policies, and structure in Liberia have for many years’ disadvantaged mothers, sisters and daughters. This affects their personal growth, consequently, reducing their potential to contribute to the socio-economic and political development of their families and communities. All those men of whom we are afraid, who crush the jealous emerald of our dreams, who twist the fragile curve of our smiles, all those men we face who ask us no questions, but to whom we put strange ones -Frantz Fanon, Toward the African Revolution {1964] The words of Frantz Fanon represent the reality of Millions of women around Liberia who must find practical answers to the daily challenges of surviving in our beloved country Liberia of unending difficulties. Please gentlemen of Liberia let us support our mothers, sisters and daughters with good public policies and develop a quota system to bring to the equilibrium to the men of Liberia. I am calling on the house of Representative to reconsider the Gender Parity Bill for discussion in plenary and subsequently pass it into law for the women of Liberia. Happy International Women Day to Liberian women.
