A date for your diary. Blarney & District Historical Society presents an illustrated lecture titled ‘When Midleton Town was Sold’ on Thursday April 3rd 2014 at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal (Blarney Secondary School). The talk outlines the history of Midleton from the arrival of the Brodricks in the 1650’s, to its sale announcement in 1964, and the eventual settlement of a very acrimonious local dispute, as a result of the sale by Viscount Midleton, in 1966. The Speaker is Mr. John Fenton, Local Historian from Midleton. John’s talk is based on his acclaimed book of the same title. He is also an ex-Cork hurler of some repute.
