A dear dear friend who I worked with for many years and with whom I achieved some amazing out-of-the-box success stories even though our combined powers that be said that it could not be done (And, we usually succeeded without any upfront budget dollars too.) has shared with her friends that the chemo is stopping. She fought for the hurting in this world in her working years ... for those whose voices were weak ... she stood up against politicians with their agendas fueled with cash and bureaucrats whose work day hours restricted their ability to even begin to think about doing more when the expectation was less. In her words, I believe that from the day you are born it is written in the book the day you will die. And, what truly matters is what you have done between those two events. As she frees herself from the sickness created by chemo treatments she boldly states I have chosen my way. Sadly she is losing weight rather rapidly. I want her to be bold, brass, and a fighter for the cause of people with disABILITIES forever but right now its a God calling moment in the journey. As she wrote, if God knocks on your door, ya gotta answer. Shes not gone ... I am treasuring the laughs we shared and the memories of battle rings we entered shoulder-by-shoulder. Her weakness over the last all too many months reminds me that in this life when we are strong need to use our strength to make a difference because our time is limited. Elton Johns words seem so appropriate right now ... It seems to me a crime that we should age These fragile times should never slip us by A time you never can or shall erase Making friends for the world to see Let the people know you got what you need With a friend at hand you will see the light If your friends are there then every things all right
