A dear friend. Who printed in Platinum for most of his printing years and it took its toll on his health. He is better since he has stopped printing. His work is exquisite. He once gave my visiting class to Death Valley a special demonstration and discussion. Tom was living in D.V. Junction, built a darkroom there, spent a year with the challenge, how to you take a beautiful picture of NOTHING? He photographed NONE OF THE USUAL, no Badwater, no dunes, no Rhyolite, no Racetract, but spent his months examining the nothingness of the desert and capturing that beauty in his platinum 8x10 contacts.
