A dear friend of mine passed away a few days ago, and Ive been struggling to find the words that are strong enough to convey how much I admired and loved her. It seems inadequate, inconsequential and even cruel to address it on Facebook, but I just cant let it pass silently. This friend was one of the kindest people I know, who took care of her sister and her mother at the end of their lives with a strength and compassion that I cant put into words. She loved her husband (my dear friend, Denis) like no other other woman Ive known, and treasured her children. Maureen taught me many things - like how to break off a branch of Lilac and grow it into another tree... She showed me a row of tiny flowers and told me that in a few years, they would spread out to there and I didnt believe her, but she had vision, patience and persistence (and they did) When I had need of water, she was there for me. When I needed to talk about my health, she was there for me. When I needed a good belly laugh, she was there. Maureen was definitely one of the funniest people I know. She was truly a gift to my life. She was a role model for me in so many ways, and I wish I had told her how much she meant to me. If there is someone like this for you, call them TODAY and tell them what they mean to you. You think there is always time, and there isnt.. there REALLY isnt. Goodbye Maureen, Im glad you arent in pain any more. Much much love.
