A family member recently reached out to me to help her get ready - TopicsExpress

A family member recently reached out to me to help her get ready for her wedding. She already works out 5 days a week and eats a pretty solid diet with a variety of minimally processed foods, but she would like to see more results and feel extra confident in 6 months when all eyes are on her on her Big Day. From her perspective, its easy to see why she is frustrated. She does Bodypump twice a week, and runs 3 days a week, and she eats pretty well -- and yet, she isnt where she wants to be aesthetically. My plan was to have her perform heavy strength training 3 days a week, with 2 short HIIT sessions after 2 of those days, and 1 day of moderate intensity cardio for 30-40 minutes. After she looked over her training program, she asked if she could keep 1 day of Bodypump (and only do 2 days of heavy strength training) because she really enjoys BP, and she asked if her moderate intensity cardio could be a group run that she does with a group of her friends who are all training for a half-marathon (so it will be 1+ hour of running). She said its super enjoyable, keeps her accountable, and its a social outlet for her. My answer? Of course. Do I think BP or hour-long runs are ideal for fat loss for most people? Nope. However, I understand the value of a person enjoying their workouts and having accountability with their training. Those two things are HUGE when it comes to a persons long-term compliance. ^^^(And THANK GOODNESS we evolve as Coaches/Trainers, because 4-5 years ago I probably would have said, No way. and tried to make her follow my perfect plan perfectly!) So we are going to roll with her modifications and assess results in 4-6 weeks, and adjust if necessary. Dont let perfect be the enemy of good. #GirlsGoneStrong #GGS #Sustainability
