A few days ago I had put up a set of maps forecasting the water stress situ at in in the Indian sub-continent in the coming decades. It was apparent from them that India and Pakistan are going to me the most water stressed region in the world. Both countries need to begin a dialog on how to manage and recharge the common aquifers. Both are overusing them and not doing anything to replenish them. Our water dialog has been confined to just the sharing of the Indus basin waters. The Treaty between the two countries has held strong and has worked well so far. But clearly the definition of waters now needs to be vastly expanded.
