A few days ago we went to the pool in our apartment complex, as a family, for the first time. We also got the boys some life-jackets so that it was easier for them to stay above water, although they definitely still needed our assistance. After a short period of apprehension, Gabe got comfortable enough to hold his breath and put his head under water and even asked us if he could get out and jump in. I told Him it was okay and that Id be waiting in the water to help him after he jumped. It was amazing to see the confidence with which he leaped into the water because he knew that his daddy was there to help him. It was also wonderful to see the smile that on his face after I helped him resurface from waters in which he easily could have drowned. This reminded me of how often times, after God has either commanded or given us the green light to do something, we hesitate or become timid. This is usually because we start wondering what the future will hold, fearful that we will drown. Truth is, were usually bold enough to ask God for things but too timid to walk them out after He says yes. If thats you, please remember that God would not tell you to do anything that He doesnt plan to SUPPORT you through! Just as I was waiting in the water even BEFORE Gabe jumped in the pool, Jesus is ALREADY in the future waiting to help you! Lastly, as soon as Gabe jumped in the pool, his head went below the water, nowhere to be seen for a time BUT although this was the case, it didnt mean that it was over! The 5 foot deep water may have been way too deep for him, but Im almost 6 feet tall so it WASNT too deep for me! Usually, when we take the plunge in faith, challenging circumstances as a result, may make us feel like we made a mistake or that weve been abandoned! However, remember: 1. Nothing you EVER experience because of obedience to God is stronger than He is 2. As scripture declares: The suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared with the GLORY that will be revealed in us! (Romans 8:18) - What youre going THROUGH is not greater than what Gods taking you TO! So friends, go ahead and take the plunge in faith... God is waiting. #lessonsfromparenthood #taketheplunge
