A few housekeeping items (a fairly long message): (1) We exceeded 1,200 members in this Group today. (2) There is a new FB group called Bloomfield Chat. To join it, click this link: https://facebook/groups/703064133072575/?ref=br_tf The Group Administrator, Mike Taylor, says that its for discussing things that I dont allow here. Please let me set the record straight on this: .....(a) I hope that the Bloomfield Chat group flourishes. Its existed for only a few days and has 13 members so far. .....(b) I have requested to join this group. Mr. Taylor deleted my first request, and I just requested to join it again. Well see how open his group is by observing whether he approves my second request. .....(c) I dont remember how long ago I became Administrator of this group, but there were fewer than 300 members at the time. I suppose that we could scroll down the messages to find it, but its probably not worth the time. I took this job because I was asked to, and nobody else wanted it. Ive done my best to do it well, and to preserve the positive nature of the discussion here. Ive also spent a LOT of time keeping obvious fake FB accounts (largely accounts based in the Far East and trying to sound like Americans) out of this Group, because these accounts generally exist either to SPAM the groups that they get into, and/or to steal the personal information of other members of those groups. .....(d) Despite what Mike Taylor implies, THIS FB Group has very few rules: ..........(ii) One is that discussion of political issues is not allowed. (Discussion of a petition to remove a public employees from his/her job IS political.) ..........(iii) The other is that business advertisements are not allowed here, other than a single announcement of the opening of a new business in Davis County. Announcements of non-profit events (fund-raisers, etc.) and estate auctions are allowed (but not LOTS of announcements for any one event.) If you believe that there is a need for the Bloomfield Chat group, please do join it, and please support it. I believe that it has its place, and I hope that it succeeds.
