A few minutes ago I wrote a comment to one gents comment about the superiority of the Marine corps. I put without the support of the Navy there would be no glory of the Marine corps. I wont take that back, but I will take time to explain. The US Marines are an elite fighting force, no doubt and their bravery and combat record belies that fact! But I got tired of hearing about how they did this and that and make it sound like they did it all alone. Okay in some cases thats true, but where do they get their supply support from? Their aircraft? Who hauls a great many of them, besides the Air Force? EVERY branch of the service has its specialty. One couldnt do its complete job without the others. I can understand that pride and sense of brotherhood and accomplishment. Yes, you may have to be a Marine to understand somethings they do or did, but dont go making sound like you are the only ones worthy of respect. I put the example of the radar picket destroyer and destroyer escorts off Okinawa in WW2. Many of the Japanese kamikazes and bombers didnt get through to attack the men ashore because of those men and ships. Over 30 were heavily damages or sunk. Lets be a little more circumspect when we brag about our branch of the service. There are people out here that went through just as much hell. Yes, I am Navy and was proud to serve 20 years. I thought we were a team!
