A few months ago, I pre-ordered and paid for the video game Alien Isolation, which was released a week ago, and I still havent gotten through it. Its very difficult to avoid being killed by the Alien, or the androids, or the other people on the space station. The object of the game seems to be to gradually learn through repeated deaths how to survive to the next save point. Much of the time is spent hiding under tables or in lockers until the enemy disappears from your handheld motion detector, and then sneaking around (slowly, because running attracts them) in search of what ever the hell your supposed to do next. And then trying to do whatever that turns out to be, before the enemy happens to wonder in the room randomly and kill you. I still want to finish it, but the thing is... At the same time that I preordered and paid for this game, I also preordered and paid for a second horror game called The Evil Within, which came out today... and Im considering taking a break from being stalked by an acid-bleeding xenomorph on a space station as if by a H R Giger Minotaur in a retro-futuristic labyrinth of disco-era computer tech... in order to give this other game a go... What do you think? Should I finish the alien game first?
