A few more MacGyver items - a bit more whimsical this time! 1st - this may be the first use (and last?) of a Snuggie for outdoor photography. 2nd - The Jeep. You can kick it, bang it around and take it about anywhere. Mine is modified with a ladder to reach the roof rack which becomes a great photo platform to get that extra elevation when needed. Of course you can use the previously mentioned platform ladder or any stepladder. Cheese Head is optional but a necessary safety item in case of a fall from said roof rack or ladder. The third item isnt whimsical at all but has become a necessary piece of kit and that is the smart phone. Of course many have excellent cameras but there are some really terrific apps that really help. A few of my faves include: TPE - The Photographers Ephemeris. This app will give you the sun and moon angles for any time of day and year imposed over Google Maps. Outstanding for plotting where to set up a shot of the upcoming Supermoon! 2nd is Photography News. PN basically grabs photography headlines from a number of sources revealing new products, ideas and tips, you name it - anything and everything photography. A third is Weather Channel or any nearly live time app that has doppler radar - invaluable when chasing lightning storms - or trying to avoid them! What apps cant you live without? Last but not least are props. They can be found anywhere but are used to dress up a scene when a little extra something is needed ;^).
