A few of you may know, but it seems that several didnt: yesterday was, in fact, not my birthday. I changed it as a test to see who actually know when my birthday is. It seems as though few people appreciate the value of a birthday. Its a time to celebrate the person and the fact that they are alive and in your life. For me, it was never a huge deal, but I still celebrate it by trying to get a few friends together. For the past few years, Ive had a few parties. But, sadly, the attendance has gone down slowly with each passing birthday, though I seem to make more and more friends on Facebook. I know Im guilty of it, but it seems like the Facebook event goes unnoticed more often than not. Even more than that, however, its devolved into very few people actually celebrating a persons birthday and more about making the world see that you wished someone a happy birthday. While I appreciate all the birthday wishes, they come at the wrong time. Im going to change my habits. I want to put more value in the birthday. From now on, Im going to call people on their birthday. Its going to be hard, considering Facebook says I have over 200 friends, but I feel that its the right thing to do, especially if I really consider them all my friends. So now my challenge to you is to find out when my birthday really is. And for you to tell me when yours is. But I wont tell you over Facebook. You have to ask me directly. And from this moment on, I will call you on your birthday to wish you a great one. Lets see how this goes.
