A few people PM-ed me asking me if I support Kidex. This was my reply: After hearing both sides, yes...I feel for the minority of those impacted by the highway. My inlaws live around that area and we travel the PJ inner roads (thank you waze!) as a shortcut to get from one place to another, so I know the madness of the area during peak hours. So again yes, I understand their concerns of a highway being built in PJ town. Some are against it. Some welcome it. However, to my understanding, nothing is set in stone as yet, as the concessionaire is working with the authorities involved for the most ideal solution. But lets face it. The roads are congested. And I am realistic. I am an avid user of the highways in Malaysia (wish Sabah had better roads in the rural areas too tho)! So Id be a hypocrite if I say I didnt want another highway ... because I use it everyday. However, I am also looking forward to the enhanced urban public transport which is in the pipeline as told to me by PEMANDU. The government is doing their best to ease congestion and highways are part of that equation. A huge budget has been allocated in improving our Urban Public transportation - its not just for highways. I am happy to hear that they are tackling the insufficiency of rails and trains. People forget that taxis and buses are modes of public transportation too, so once we get a more comprehensive public transportation going, the next task is to handle the mindset of citizens to fully utilize our public transportation, but this can only be implemented well, once our public transportation is more wholesome (and after my chat with Azharudin from PEMANDU, their plans are pretty exciting!!!). Hope this answers your queries? To optimism and kindness. Merry Christmas folks! #berlove
