A few people have asked me what the significance of the upcoming EPA community consultation on the PER is and why we have to comment again. Last time was just to consider if they should undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment. The Chair of the EPA determined to undertake a Public Environmental Review (PER). This includes a 4 week community consultation that starts on Monday. People will have to resubmit their previous comments and concerns. This time however the proponent (in this case the Department Of Premier & Cabinet) has to respond to every submission. It is really important that we get as many personal submissions as possible made during the 4 week period and that they are based on both the outrage over the proposals destructive ambition and also the science behind lethal shark hazard mitigation methods and their impacts on natural populations.
