A few thoughts on a special day two months ago: The mind races back to a date and a time. How to recapture the warmth, the magic. Walking together, hugging for strength. Then a picnic, wine, a kiss. The day faded to night. The memory ignites a fire Which will never be extinguished. Time plodded on, as if slogging through mire Miles intervened, then days, then weeks Anticipation and memory blurred So that neither was free of the other Till that first dance by the water, that kiss! The memory restokes a fire Which will never be extinguished. Now memory is all that remains Of precious moments suspended in time. Mental images as well as digital Usher the return of events with a rush That makes the heart race with longing And the desire to re-ignite the fire Which will never be extinguished.
