A few updates: 1.My trip to DC last week has still not concluded as I still have not made it home. It is officially the worst business trip ever. 2. The poison ivy episode has still not ended, as it turned into cellulitus which became infected with Strep bacteria while I was in DC last week. 3. I am still in the hospital here in Memphis (good WiFi!) since Thursday night. I was admitted and they ran many tests. As I waited for the results, my lower leg continued to swell with infection, until it literally exploded early Friday morning. Gross. It continues to ooze, but is almost done. 4. Now comes the painful part, the Strep on my lower leg has left new skin, but unfortunately feels like 3rd degree burns. A major reason to keep me in the hospital for a while. 5. This entire situation brought out a hidden disease I had no idea that was inside of me. My blood sugars were so high trying to fight all of this, I am now identified as a diabetic. The Dr.s have me on an aggressive protocol to bring my count down from 414, which I hear is high. So what was supposed to be a typical business trip to DC has changed my life in ways I never thought of before. I need to learn about diabetes and own it. I need to get my wound healed as soon as possible. And I just want to be home.
