A few weeks ago, on this page, I wrote about the contribution of Dr.Andile Ngcaba to the ICT Revolution that is taking place in the Eastern Cape.i shared mostly about the work his Fibreco company does in Fibreoptics. One of the rare qualities about Dr.Ngcaba, is his ability to remain humble and grounded whilst cosmopolitan in orientation. Today, My Eastern Cape Person for the week is .....Yongama Njisane an Economist based at the law firm ENSAfrica. He comes from Flagstaff and specializes in anti- trust and Competition law. His industry knowledge and expertise according to his ENS profile includes merger analysis and prohibited conduct in industries such as shipping, steel, construction, packaging, health, food and processing. He used to serve as a Senior analyst at the Enforcement and Exemtion Division of the Competition Commission of South Africa. I thought about Yongama Njisane today, because he is Eastern Capes Good Story to Tell. Yongamas experience at the law firm includes economic analysis of the competitive and public interest impact of vertical and horizontal agreements, his brief often entails looking at excessive pricing, price discrimination and general exclusionary conduct. Last week I told Yongama that Premier Masualle was a guest speaker at the 103 rd anniversary of the Holy Cross Mission in Flagstaff. This historic Church was an incubator for the late ANC President Oliver Reginald Tambo where he was baptized and attended primary school. Yongamas grandfather was also one of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Sinking of the Battleship, u Mendi in 1917. I thought about Yongama in the context of OR because he not only exudes confidence, but balances it with humility. He is grounded yet global, he is at ease at corporate boardrooms as well as in the cattle dip.He understands the communities and the challenges they face because he is their product. Share with me information about an Eastern Cape person you know and admire as we tell our stories of 20 years of Freedom and Democracy.
