A few years ago I walked into my first social work class. I had switched majors four times by that point and was convinced I would never figure out where I wanted my life to go. I entered that class as a meandering spirit drifting with the current of the day. Then I met the professor. Stacie McGee lit the social worker flame inside of me. I aspired to be her when I grew up. She challenged me and the other students to take action and make change. She challenged us to think about social work and always question the motives and the ethics of our job. She was the first social worker who made me aware of the power to be an agent of social change or social control. Stacie McGee is the kind of person who, in her daily life, creates ripples of hope. Stacie McGee is changing the world one social work class at a time, one person at a time, and every single moment. I wanted to give a huge birthday shout out and thank the person who showed me how to be a grade-A Bad Ass. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STACIE!!! :D
