A few years ago, while resigning from a big research organisation - TopicsExpress

A few years ago, while resigning from a big research organisation in South Africa, the most senior professor in the organisation asked me why I would do such a thing. I was told that I would be the next head of department in a year or two. I am really not as moved by money and titles as I am by knowledge and innovative products. So I resigned. I was surprised to hear a few months down the line that the professor who was telling me about the big plans for the organisation also resigned. Thank God I knew what I wanted. I also remember that when I once left a church to join another, one of the senior members of the church was very angry that I left. Given his anger, I was shocked to hear later that he also left the church. Here is my point: Do not allow people determine the life you live. Do not give them the God-job of assigning your purpose. No matter how holy and intelligent they sound, only God is all-knowing and man is fallible. I am not saying that you should not have mentors or take advice, but allow only God determine your purpose. Only the maker of a product can tell its purpose. I am afraid that too many people are not living their lives. I am afraid that too many people do not have the vision and boldness to live their purpose. I am afraid that too many people’s lives are a knee-jerk reaction. Are you living your life? Do you know the purpose God made you for?
