A few years back, my office admin person failed to file my quarterly employee tax returns for 3 quarters. An IRS person showed up at the office flashing a badge (seriously!). I had no idea what was going on, and eventually we got to the reason he was here, after a very aggressive line of questioning. He was ok, I guess, after he figured out we had filed our forms both before and after the three quarters, and I admitted I did not know (I paid another person to do this!). So, I cut them a check for about 14 thousand dollars (which I had to borrow!) and they were all lovey dovey about it. What was interesting was the dialogue I had with this guy. I asked him what made you go to work for the IRS? He looked me in the eye and I swear he said 40 hour work weeks that you really only have to work 30, great vacations and a pension that is better than you can get on the outside. I can retire next year at full salary. Gotta love our public servants.
