A first sentence of a novel should be the sentence that opens the world of said text to the reader even if said utterance is confined within the constraints of a facebook page. Does not stop the previous sentence being the first sentence in a novel though; though more likely a short story. It is a bit rubbish admitting to writing a short story though, like owning up to practising a to a dying craft, like knittings ones own yoghurt.
