A former nursery worker from the Isle of Man has pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a three-year-old child from the nursery where he worked in Douglas. Andrew James Maddrell, of Ballanard Road in Douglas, admitted the charge at Douglas Courthouse on 9 August. Maddrell, aged 24, used to be employed as a nursery worker at Sandcastles Kindergarten on Douglas Promenade. The 24-year-old had also pleaded guilty to possessing 232 indecent images of children on 6 August. Deemster Alastair Montgomerie remanded Mr Maddrell in custody until sentencing on 23 September. A police spokesman said: “The indecent images were discovered following his arrest and had nothing to do with the nursery or any child associated with the nursery.” Support has been offered to children, parents and staff throughout the investigation.
