A friend came to me asking if I could share and donate to one of her good friends as they are going through some super tough times!! Have a read and share the link and donate ! This can happen to anyone at any time and with your help and a little bit of generosity we can make this families life a little easier! Thanks ! In July 2013, 28 year-old Richy and his partner Bex were living an idyllic life in Margaret River, near Perth, Australia. These two kiwi kids were enjoying their overseas experience and had started a small business that was showing promise. Richy opted to have an examination at hospital because cancer had occurred in other family members. He was found to have colon cancer and underwent surgery in August 2013 but it didnt go well, with complications leading to further surgery. To make matters worse, medical insurance didnt cover therapy & the couple had to pack up quickly & return to New Zealand so Richy could undergo chemotherapy. Back in New Zealand they settled into a chemo routine with Bex having to become his full-time caregiver as he was left weak and exhausted by the treatment. Then disaster struck in February 2014, with a chemotherapy drug leading to Richy suffering a seizure that caused his heart to stop. Bex had to perform CPR for more than 20 minutes before the ambulance arrived & when Richy did finally show signs of heart activity, he was admitted to ICU in a bad way. For nearly a week he showed little sign of improvement, insubated, having a machine breathe for him & bristling with tubes and equipment. Miraculously, as he was brought slowly out of his artificial coma, he began to function normally. He took many more weeks to gain strength & chemo was not restarted as he was near the end of the treatment. In October 2014 he underwent further surgery to give his body normal function again & by then he had again started a small business & Bex was working as a pre-school teacher. Another wee miracle, she was also pregnant, something that made them both very happy. Richy continued to recover and was feeling good until about mid November when he began suffering chronic back pain. Around Christmas 2014 he was scanned & found to have a cluster of cancerous lymph nodes surrounding his liver & pushing up against his lower back, and cancer nodes found in both of his lungs. He is now unable to move around much & is dosed up with pain medication. Richy & Bex became parents in early January 2015, with the birth of their baby girl, a bright spot in an otherwise very trying 18 months, with more challenges ahead. givealittle.co.nz/cause/richysfight
