A friend has died! May Mary Ann McClintock be in the light, swimming, making a party for souls and increasing the joy in the universe. MaryAnn was General Manager of Mickeys in West Hollywood. She made Mickey’s a home for Sisters in days when other bars turned us away. We held numerous events there from the mid 1990s on: Sisters Bingo, Naked Boys Baking, the Sister Softball after party, this year’s Project Nunway after party, and many others. She always greeted us with a smile and a knowing look in her eye. She loved and made space for us to perpetrate our silliness and mayhem and mission. She believed in our nunsense and also in our goal to help people. She generously gave of her resources to help us do that. She spent much of her life and energy making a good, happy place for LGBTQ people. May she be very justly rewarded for all her good. Sister Buffy knew her the longest of us. She wrote, “What a loss to or community and our house. MaryAnn was not only sweet to deal with but was a extremely competent manager. In everything we did with her, her side was always done, on time, ready to go. There were a few evenings I remember dropping in after events for a few drinks and some go-go boy gawking. Id often buy my first drink and when I went to get a second, the bartender would wave off my money and point to the end of the bar. There was MaryAnn hunched over a drink scanning all the activity in the bar, and taking care of a thirsty nun. Blessed be her memory. “ With all our hearts, Thank You MaryAnn. -The Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence
