A friend of mine shared this experience she had on a spiritual retreat. Im sharing it now with you, because I relate to it at this time in my life. Maybe it will help you too. After several days in the dessert, I was sitting by my tent observing nature in silence. I noticed an ant crawling up the side of my tent. It struggled greatly to get up to the top and it took a very long time, but it did eventually make it. As I watched its struggles, I wondered to myself, I wonder what it thinks its going to find when it gets to the top. I wonder if it thinks it will find food. Or shelter. Or other ants. It will find none of those things, yet it continues to greatly struggle. At that time, she related her struggle in corporate America to the struggle of the ant and she asked herself, why am I struggling to get to the top (of the corporate ladder)? Do I think I will find comfort there? Do I think I will find more people there? What kind of people do I think I will find there? Will they care about the same things that I care about? Are they happy? Why, again am I struggling to get there? Lastly, she asked if it was her will to be there or Gods will. God says that in this world we will have many struggles. His last commandment to us was to love one another. This wasnt his suggestion. It was what he commanded/ordered. If you do something that is loving toward others and you find that you boss is often asking you why did you do that? Maybe its time to look for a different boss. Just sayin đŸ˜‰
