A friend of mine was screwed over by one employer, and he left to - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine was screwed over by one employer, and he left to become a manager at another employer. After turning his store around, the suits in the suites decided to severely throttle down a large number of stores, including my friends store. They then offered him a lower-level position with a substantial reduction in salary, which wouldnt have been enough to take care of his family. They also couldnt guarantee him the store he moved to wouldnt also be closed down within another four or five months. (No job security). He moved back to the former employer, although with a still lower salary than he was making previously, before that first employer screwed him over. He works two jobs, at more than full-time hours. His wife works full-time too. They are fighting to keep their heads above water, and to take care of their daughter and keep their very modest home. I do not believe what he is being asked to do is reasonable. A full-time, livable wage worker should be able to earn enough at his or her job to pay for food, shelter, utilities, transportation, and healthcare. These are not optional extras - these are basics of family security. And family security is community security. And community security is national security. All working people, left, right, center, or whatever side you espouse, we are all in the same boat. And it is sinking. We need to work together. Its a matter of national security.
