A friend received this message today, essentially blaming intactivists for her decision to circumcise her 2nd son... The reason my second son is circumcised is due to these sort of comments and hard lines that it is never okay, never right. He suffered, I suffered, and I made a different choice for #3. Mind you I was very young when ________ was born, and so that was just what we did, but I actually researched before ______ was born and this is the attitude of condemnation I often saw. It is not an attitude of gentle education. It is outright condemnation. People are often very rude about it, even downright nasty, and they try to make it out like a circumcised boy is damaged. This is EXTREMELY offensive to some of us. Do I regret getting my older sons circumcised? Yes! But do I think they are damaged? No.
