To all stakeholders in the Nigerian project, all former heads of state of whatever description whether you attend the Council of State meetings or not, all northerners who are participants in this government, all those in position of authority either in the public or private sector, all politicians, all northern socio-cultural organizations and pressure groups, HEAR THIS: It is possible that by the time you finish reading this short note, the Boko Haram has added another town to SHEKAUs CALIPHATE. That means, another town has been burnt down, communities have been uprooted, men, women and those most vulnerable -- children, have been slaughtered, rendered homeless, everything else you can imagine, would have happened. In the mean time, life continues as usual for northern politicians who have been busy jostling for selective and elective positions, declaring their intentions to run for office, hanging smiling posters and ridiculous campaign statements all over town.!! And yes, all this decimation of the north is taking place under the watch of the VICE PRESIDENT, THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER, THE MINISTER OF DEFENSE, THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE, THE CHIEF OF DEFENSE STAFF, all of them NORTHERNERS. Add to the above, the list of northerners who are FORMER HEADS OF STATE, FORMER HEADS OF THE MILITARY AND FORMER HEADS OF THE JUDICIARY, etc.; from whom, with all respect, there is a deafening silence!! ADD ALSO, MEMBERS OF THE NORTHERN GOVERNORS FORUM, WHO HAVE SINCE LOST THEIR INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE COURAGE, RESPONSIBILITY, WILL AND VOICE!!! THE NATIONAL AND STATE ASSEMBLIES..? Ha ha!! I am tempted to single out the AREWA CONSULTATIVE FORUM and the NORTHERN ELDERS FORUM, out of the immense respect we all have for their members and leadership, and in view of their recent successful outing at the national conference, and to marvel at their failure to at least raise the LEVEL OF CONCERN regarding the events in the NORTH EAST. SHOULD WE ALL BE COWED TO SILENCE? As you contemplate your individual and collective role as part of the solution, I wish to call on ALL NORTHERN LEADERS, NORTHERN SOCIO-CULTURAL AND PRESSURE GROUPS to come together and in unison, demand answers to many questions, from THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION: 1. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (FG) should stop playing politics with the security of the nation and the future of the NORTH. 2. The FG should let the nation and the whole world know the truth, either A) that the FG/ MILITARY have NO CAPACITY TO DEFEND THE TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF NIGERIA or B) that it has no interest in ensuring the safety and security of hapless northerners who are at the mercy of an insurgency. 3. What kind of advice does the NSA give to the FG? If his advice is ignored, what is he still doing in the post? 4. If all those northerners in the FG, from the Vice President, the NSA, the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Defense Staff, the Minister of Justice, ETC, cannot add value to the lives of Nigerians in the North -- East in particular, THEY SHOULD ALL RESIGN. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY OWE THEIR POSITIONS TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE NORTHERNERS!! Northerners should tell them to resign.
