A fun piece of research; which describes your dorm room? Physical Order Produces Healthy Choices, Generosity, and Conventionality, Whereas Disorder Produces Creativity Kathleen D. Vohs, Joseph P. Redden, and Ryan Rahinel In the last of three studies exploring the influence of environmental order/disorder on behavior, participants were placed in an organized or disorganized room and were asked to choose between a "classic" and a "new" flavor of fruit drink. Participants in the organized room were more likely to choose the classic smoothie, whereas those in the disorganized room were more likely to choose the new flavor. Based on these results, the authors posit that orderly environments may instill the desire for convention and tradition and disorganized environments may encourage creativity and novel choices.
