This is my grandfather. He served in WW2 and did not meet my mother until she was a year old. He was kind, patient, caring, sarcastic, gentle, peaceful, and incredibly loving and thoughtful. He had great pride in everything he did. He never spoke ill of anyone. He was welcoming and full of love. He had the most beautiful and kind blue eyes. Today, on Veterans Day I think of all of those who have served and continue to serve. I will forever be against WAR and hope for Peace on this earth. I will also always respect those who work for freedom for our country and freedom for others. The beautiful thing about families is that even when they have left this earth, they are still entangled into every living cell of our body. This afternoon I clasp my hands together looking upon them, and thank God for my roots. Thankful to my grandfather for his service (he was a baker overseas!!), his job serving his country was to make bread and food for his fellow soldiers. I love that. He lost his brother early on in the war as he was killed. My soldier grandfather taught me my love of the earth and growing vegetables. Giving thanks with hands together remembering how even though many soldiers are no longer on this earth, our cells are very much still alive and can continue doing the work of being change makers.
