A girls national under-14 record was broken and another equaled at the 57th Malaysia Open Swimming Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, two weeks ago from May 8 to 11. Tan Jing-E bettered her own 100m butterfly mark of 1 minute 2.72 seconds set in February when she clocked 1:02.23 to finish second in KL. Hannah Quek swam a time of 2:22.34 to equal Quah Ting Wens 200m backstroke record that was set nearly eight years ago. The 13-year-old smashed her personal best by nearly four seconds to claim the bronze medal in a time that is the fastest by a local female swimmer this year. The 14-strong Singapore contingent won two gold, six silver and eight bronze medals.
