A gold medal cyclist is dead after after he was clipped by a cube van west of Kamloops at about 6 p.m. Thursday. Dean McGillivray, 57, of Kamloops was a member of the Kamloops’ Interior Grasslands Cycling Club. In 2011, he won a gold medal and two silvers at the B.C. Senior Games in the West Kootenay. The accident took place near Highway 1 and Rodeo Drive in Cherry Creek. He was riding on the shoulder, heading east.
