A good thinker... Gathers as much information as possible Takes time to assimilate all the information available Considers perceptions as well as facts Can be creative on demand Takes into account the viewpoints of others Looks for good and bad and interesting points Places attention on each stage of the thinking Is prepared to be wrong Does not confuse emotions with facts Looks for new patterns, differences, points of contrast Does not categorise the topic as being exactly the same as something else Is not bound by pure logic alone. Makes an effort to be a good thinker Creates new concepts that have real value A bad thinker... Only focuses on what is perceived as true Thinks that analysis is the key to good thinking Does not challenge the assumptions of their own thinking Believes intelligence is proportional to thinking ability Rushes to adopt an initial position - immediately takes sides Thinks that problem solving is the only form of useful thinking Does not shift thinking as new ideas and inputs arise Is contrary, confrontational, argumentative Reduces a problem too soon in the thinking process Is not open to new influences or ideas or provocations Does not use new methods to improve their thinking process Thinks that natural ability in thinking is enough Is critical without being positive Takes the view that they alone have the answer Has their ego at stake with every decision they make Hates being wrong
