A good verse for us tonight before we have our rest is ISAIAH 45:7 I form the light & create darkness, I make peace and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. A Reflection: The Hebrew word for evil in this verse is RA. Its right translation in English is - great sorrow, grief, disaster, calamity, tragedy, accidents. What does this mean to us? well, God is Sovereign and theres a purpose for everything. Relating this to what we already experienced - the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Cebu and Bohol in October and now the Super typhoon that greatly affected Tacloban and other parts of Eastern Visayas, I believe God has a message to us why allowed all these calamities? well, here are the reasons why: 1. A wake up call to us sinners. He wants us to repent, trust in Him for salvation. 2. A Discipline to us as a Christian nation. God is Sovereign, He is Just, Holy and the Jealous God. He is angry and His wrath is directed, is poured out to all idolaters. 3. As Judgment to unrepentant sinners, do you remember the flood?, Tower of Babel? Sodom and Gomorrah? and Lastly, 4. Such calamities are fulfillment of Christs prophecy - that He is coming soon. For us Filipinos, lets humble ourselves to God and ask Him for His forgiveness, and lets ask Him to restore us once again for his glory and honor. Amen!
